4 weeks in the life of a newborn

Welcome to our family little Yannick.

We hope you have had a good start into your life with us. You are a beautiful little boy and we are so privileged to have you with us. Your big brother is doting around you, even if you wake him up at night with your crying for milk and cuddles.
You have already grown fantastically and I think today you gave us your first hint of a genuine smile. You are now having distinct waking periods and are intently and sincerely looking at everything around you.

Just as your big brother, you also seem to have a problem with cow's milk and soy milk, so Mama is not having any to make sure you don't have colic anymore. Thankfully it seems to work. Now you only cry if you can't latch quick enough or the milk is coming too slow, but not because you are having pains. Such a relief to us.

 

We have been on a few outings already, but it's a little challenging, as you can't stand the car seat and the pram is also not your favourite place. Thankfully Mama got a sling, which helps with feeding too.
You also don't like sleeping on your back at all or in the cot, so you are still with us in bed, swaddled propped up a bit, just like your big brother was at this age.

Mama is still waiting for a routine to kick in, but it's another 2 weeks till the magic mark of 6 weeks. In the meantime I am hoping that you will soon increase your feedings from every 2 hrs to a longer frequency, so we all catch a bit more sleep.

It's is brilliant to have your daddy here and what would we do or how would we cope without him. Maybe the rest of the family will be able to come and see us soon.
